About me

As a former academic and the child of immigrants, I know what it’s like to feel like you don’t quite fit in — even when everything ‘looks fine’ from the outside. I became a therapist to help others find clarity, connection, and a way forward that feels true to who they are.

FAQ

  • I’m based in downtown Toronto, but currently I only provide virtual therapy via video call using a secure platform. I can work with clients from all over Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon.

  • Consultations are video calls where you can tell me about yourself and your current challenges. I’ll be asking lots of questions to get to know you and get a feel for how we can move forward. It’s also a space where you can ask me questions about my approach and the process of therapy in general.

  • The process of therapy can look different with different practitioners. In general, therapy is a place for you to explore your challenges, fears, hopes, and dreams in a non-judgmental and safe space.

A common misconception is that therapy is a place where we get “fixed”. I prefer to think of it as a place to learn and strengthen our skills: our skills of self-awareness, self-soothing, and relating to others.

It can be hard work and emotionally taxing, especially at the beginning, but your therapist will do their best to create a sense of safety that honours your courage to open up. Eventually, the process can become lighter, and sometimes even joyful!

I work with a person-centered and collaborative approach which means we create a framework that fits your needs. You can decide on how goal-oriented sessions are, how much learning, discussion, and practice take place, and also how long the whole course of therapy can be.

Your ongoing feedback is also very important to me. This way I can adjust our work and maintain quality of care as you evolve and grow.

  • As a student, my work is supervised by an experienced clinical supervisor—a therapist with over 1000 hours of experience in working with clients. While my supervisor won’t be present for sessions, she will work with me to make sure that I’m doing my utmost in providing you with quality care.

Supervision is defined by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as a contractual relationship in which a clinical supervisor engages with a supervisee to discuss the direction of therapy and the therapeutic relationship, to promote the professional growth of the supervisee, to enhance the supervisee’s safe and effective use of self in the therapeutic relationship and to safeguard the well-being of the client.
